We would like to thank Jim McCutcheon for joining our worship on February 1, 2026 and sharing 3  musical arrangements He has agreed to join us again in the future.

Jim McCutcheon has been a career guitarist for five decades. He teaches guitar at the University of Dayton, Wright State University and Miami University of Ohio and has performed concerts in Europe and across the USA. As `The Guitar Man,’ Jim’s special ability to connect with children of all ages shines through in programs sharing the beauty of the family of fretted instruments (including several types of guitars in addition to the banjo, mandolin, charango, ukulele, etc.) as well as his original Science of Music demonstrations for all ages.

Jim is the Guitar Advisor to the National Federation of Music Clubs and reviews classical guitar and lute CDs for the American Record Guide and Soundboard Magazine. Since 1986, he has hosted “The Intimate Guitar” every week on Dayton Public Radio in Ohio where he operates a music teaching facility and store with his wife, Debbie.

Jim received the Ohio Governor’s Award for the Arts in Arts Education in 2017 and has received two Parents’ Choice Awards for his recordings for children.

At TEDxDayton 2020 he performs Bach’s “Suite for Unaccompanied Cello: Prelude” and a composition of his own, as he shares how he began his career.
